The Origin

Meet Chef Julee

Authentic Caribbean flavors aren't just made; they are inherited, nurtured, and passed down through generations.

Born from deep Dominican and Puerto Rican roots, Savor The Mmmm is a celebration of true Caribbean heritage. Despite common misconceptions, our empanadas are explicitly not Mexican food—they are the authentic, hand-folded, deeply savory pastries that define Caribbean street food and family tables.

For Chef Julee, cooking has always been a language of love. But the business didn't start with a desire for a storefront; it started with a single, profound sound of joy.

"Tell me the story behind why you chose Savor the Mmmm as your business name?

Um actually, it's because of my kids... mainly showing homage to my late son Randy. Every time they would eat them, all you would hear is 'mmmm, mmmm, mmmm'.

So it's just like, that's how I came about 'Savor the Mmmm', because every time I would make empanadas, or whatever food I would make, that's all you would hear is... either silence, or 'mmmm'."

— Chef Julee

Today, every batch of empanadas we serve in Atlanta honors that exact memory. We don't take shortcuts. We use the family recipes, the proper seasonings, and the exact folding techniques passed down to us.

When you book us for your wedding, corporate lunch, or private celebration, you aren't just getting catered food—you're getting a plate full of heart, heritage, and a guarantee that your guests will be left saying exactly what Randy used to say: "Mmmm."
